Spanish: El Rey Momo, es considerado el rey de los Carnavales en numerosas festividades de América Latina, principalmente en Brasil y Colombia. Su aparición significa el comienzo de las fiestas de Carnaval. Cada carnaval tiene su propio Rey Momo, a quién se le suele dar la llave de la ciudad. Tradicionalmente, un hombre alto y gordo es elegido para interpretar dicho papel.
English: The "Rey Momo" is considered the king of Carnival in numerous festivities of Latin America, primarily in Brazil and Colombia. His appearance marks the beginning of the Carnival celebrations. Every Carnival has its own "Rey Momo", to whom the city keys will be handed. Traditionally, a tall and fat man is selected for this role.
