| Description |
English: Royal Mail sidings at Crewe A parcels train is stabled in the sidings immediately to the west of the station. The vehicle nearest the camera is the PCV (propelling control vehicle) - converted from a redundant passenger electric multiple unit. At the time of submission (2009) there were proposals to turn this area - the now-disused mail terminal - into a new passenger entrance to the main station, affording better drop-off facilities than the present entrance on Nantwich Road bridge. Eventually the planners went for the other side of the station SJ7154 : Crewe station: new Weston Road entrance. Another photographer's view from 2012 SJ7154 : Western side of Crewe station shows that since my picture, the canopy at this side of the station has been removed. |
