Summary[edit]
DescriptionSands Lane, Barmston - geograph.org.uk - 810661.jpg |
English: Sands Lane, Barmston, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The eastern end of Sands Lane at Barmston, which once swung north along the coast and was apparently the main route to Bridlington before the North Sea swallowed it up. Coastal erosion has long been a problem at Barmston; between the mid 18th and mid 19th century it is estimated that farmland on the coast was lost at a rate of about one yard per year. |
