Santa Mariña de Augas Santas La leyenda de Santa Mariña según el "Diccionario de seres míticos galegos": Mariña era hija de un moro llamdo Theudio y queda huerfana de madre. El padre se la entrega a una mujer de Piñeira de Arcos (Ourense) para que la críe, esta mujer se llamaba Ana y era cristiana y bautizó a la niña y entonces el padre no quiso saber nada de su hija. De niña era pastora y sentada debajo del roble que hoy llaman de la Santa, la niña se sentaba a hilar. A los 15 años la encontró el gobernador romano, Olibrio. Se enamoró de ella pero no consiguió ablandar su corazón y tampoco que abjurara del cristianismo. Así que en venganza, primero la mandó encerrar en los calabozos del castillo y después mandó colgarla, azotarla, herirla con peines de hierro. Pero a los tres días ella ya estaba curada de sus heridas. Más tarde la queman con telas ardiendo y le atan las manos y los pies y la arrojan de cabeza a un estanque. Pero de todo sale la santa por arte de magia. Después la metieron en un horno caliente pero aquí fue San Pedro quien la sacó por un agujero. Al final; Olibrio, mandó que la decapitaran. Al caer al suelo, la cabeza rebotó dos veces y así nacieron tres manantiales, que ahora son una fuente dentro de la capilla de San Tomé en el Santuario y una fuente pública del lugar y otra la fuente de las Augas Negras, que sirve para matar los bichos del campo. |
