Description
Deutsch: Der Schwedenschimmel, das Pferd des schwedischen Königs Gustav II. Adolf, das ihm bei der Belagerung Ingolstadts am 30. April 1632 unter dem Hintern weggeschossen wurde. Es wurde am 4. Mai 1632 nach dem Abzug der Schweden vom Schlachtfeld geborgen und in in der Stadt präpariert. Es ist heute im Stadtmuseum zu sehen. Der „Schwedenschimmel“ gilt als ältestes erhaltenes Tierpräparat Europas.
English: The Schwedenschimmel (German, literaly translated: Swedish Grey Horse), it was the horse of the Swedish King Gustav II Adolf, which was shot from under him during the siege of Ingolstadt on 30 April 1632. It was recovered on 4 May 1632 after the Swedes withdrew and preserved in the city. Today it can be seen in the City Museum Inoglstadt. The "Swedish grey horse" is considered to be the oldest preserved taxidermy specimen in Europe.
