Description "Vandever and His Officers"
Union General William Vandever (left of table, hat, bearded) with his staff officers. This picture is believed to have been taken in May 1864, during Sherman's Atlanta Campaign, outside a house belonging to Confederate Maj. C. H. Smith on East Fourth Avenue in Rome, Georgia. Notwithstanding the title above, General W.T. Sherman does not appear in this picture. See below for link to a larger and higher-resolution version of this image.
