Du Contrat Social: ou Principes du Droit Politique Title page of the genuine first octavo edition (first state with standing Justice) of Jean-Jacques Rousseau's Social Contract 1762. See R.A. Leigh, Unsolved Problems in the Bibliography of J.-J. Rousseau, Cambridge, 1990, plate 1. From http://www.scielosp.org/scielo.php?pid=S0042-96862006001100020&script=sci_arttext. This replaces an image of a pirated edition printed the same year probably in Germany. See Leigh, plate 22. I moved the pirated edition image to File:Rousseau pirated edition.jpg.

This work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 70 years or fewer.
