English: St George's Market, Belfast [3] The last remnant of Belfast's markets district is St George's Market, built 1890-96 and recently restored. Markets are held weekly on a Friday and Saturday, with occasional events and different markets at other times. See http://www.belfastcity.gov.uk/stgeorgesmarket/index.asp?menuitem=introduction for further information.
The Friday 'Variety Market' dates back to 1604. It opens at 6am every week and runs until approximately 1pm. There are 248 market stalls selling a variety of products including, fruit, vegetables, antiques, books, clothes and fish. The 'City Food and Garden Market' (when these pictures were taken) takes place every Saturday from 9am until 3pm. See also 735570 |
