Summary[edit]

Description
English: Stagecoach North West bus 16335 (reg. VLT 255), a 1996 Volvo Olympian double-decker with Alexander RL bodywork, pictured at Stagecoach Merseyside's Gillmoss depot in Liverpool.

It's wearing a promotional Champions of Champions all-over livery, celebrating Liverpool football club's record in European football. It features images and facts from the club's 5 successful European Cup victories of 1977, 1978, 1981, 1984 and 2005.

It was one of two such buses, the other one being Stagecoach Merseyside bus 34815 (reg. PX06 DVZ), also pictured here out of shot to the left.

Pictured on 11 July 2007, the buses had been officially launched at the club's ground, Anfield, on 20 June 2007. Showcasing the livery, 16335 operates on the X2 route between Liverpool, Southport and Preston, while 34815 operates across Merseyside.

Ironically given their fierce rivalry, 16335 was delivered new to Stagecoach Manchester (Greater Manchester Buses South) as their coach seated fleet no. 710, registered N335 NPN. It's last allocation before this Liverpool livery was applied, was as a route-branded bus for the long distance LakeLink service route 555/6 (Lancaster to Keswick).

It's pictured here wearing the age masking cherished plate VLT 255. This used to belong to ex-London Transport Routemaster RM255. Having been transferred to Stagecoach United Counties in 1988, RM255 was re-registered as HVS 935 in 1992, before being withdrawn sold to a dealer in 1999, going on to see use as a promotional bus for Absinthe.

16335 was eventually returned to its original registration, painted back into Stagecoach livery, and transferred to Barrow-in-Furness depot.
