English: Statue of Sir David Stirling, (1915 - 1990) An evening twilight rear view with Ben Ledi the hill on the right.
Colonel Stirling was founder of the Special Air Service. This is an inspired location for the statue since it is only a mile from the family estate of Keir where he was brought up and stands on a ridge commanding panoramic views westward to the hills. A friend who knew him declared it a good likeness, with the twist in his mouth and cigars in the pocket of his duffel coat. He was tall, around 6feet 4 inches. |
