Flokkar í lítilli hættu

Flokkar 2001 (útgáfa 3.1)	Lýsing	Flokkar 1994 (útgáfa 2.3)
	Í fullu fjöri (enska: Least Concern: LC eða LR/lc), minnst hætta. Uppfyllir ekki skilyrði fyrir því að fara í neinn hættuflokk. Útbreidd ar og stórar deildir lenda í þessum flokki.
	Við hættumörk (enska: Near Threatened: NT eða LR/nt) er nálægt því að komast í hættuflokk eða líklegt til að lenda þar í náinni framtíð.
Ekki lengur notað á rauða listanum	Háð verndarsvæðum (enska: Conservation Dependent: LR/cd), er viðfangsefni verndunaráætlunar sem snýst um deildina eða búsvæði hennar. Ef þeirri áætlun yrði hætt myndi það þýða að deildin færi í hættuflokk innan fimm ára.

	Viðkvæmt (enska: Vulnerable: VU), er talið í mikilli hættu á að verða útdauða í náttúrulegum heimkynnum.
	Í útrýmingarhættu (enska: Endangered: EN), er talið í mjög mikilli hættu á að verða útdauða í náttúrulegum heimkynnum.
	Í mikilli útrýmingarhættu (enska: Critically Endangered: CR), stendur frammi fyrir gríðarlega mikilli hættu á að verða útdauða í náttúrulegum heimkynnum.

	Útdauða í náttúrulegum heimkynnum (enska: Extinct in the Wild: EW), lifir, svo vitað sé, eingöngu í ræktun, í haldi manna eða sem innfluttur stofn langt frá eldra búsvæði.
	Gögn vantar (enska: Data Deficient: DD), upplýsingar skortir til að framkvæma beint eða óbeint mat á útrýmingarhættu.
	Ekki metið (enska: Not Evaluated: NE), hefur ekki enn verið borið saman við flokkunarviðmiðin.
	Kannski útdauða (enska: Possibly Extinct: PE), flokkur sem BirdLife International notar. Undirflokkur CR.
	Kannski útdauða í náttúrulegum heimkynnum (enska: Possibly Extinct in the Wild: PEW), flokkur sem notaður er á rauða lista IUCN. Undirflokkur CR.
	Útdauða (enska: Extinct: EX), hafið er yfir skynsamlegan vafa að síðasta eintakið er dáið.
