Summary[edit]
DescriptionThe Black Prince, City Square, Leeds - geograph.org.uk - 112286.jpg |
English: The Black Prince, City Square, Leeds. The statue of the Black Prince was donated to the city of Leeds by Colonel Thomas Walter Harding, who was Lord Mayor 1898-9. There is no obvious connection between Leeds and the Black Prince, some have said that Harding believed he symbolised the qualities of chivalry and democracy, which were appropriate to the city. Behind this well-known Leeds landmark is another, the old Post Office building, being converted to another use. (Also the rather bare Christmas tree, still in place near the end of January). |
