English: The Drawbridge at Scarborough Harbour
The drawbridge connects the seaward end of Old Pier (left) to Vincent's Pier¹ (right) and, since this photograph was taken, has been replaced with a more modern structure https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1766229 . This photograph was taken at low tide from the sands near the Old Harbour https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1727915 entrance. Ahead, beyond the bridge, is the East Harbour https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1731098 . For a photograph of the viewpoint, click here: https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1716597 . - - - ¹ Vincents Pier, which was completed 1752, was named after its engineer William Vincent. - - - The data given for the date taken is the processing date on the slide and therefore could have been taken several weeks earlier. |
