Summary[edit]

Description
English: A woman making the acquaintance of a young elephant at Dublin Zoo under the watchful of eye of its mother (presumably)...
Jonas Livet's " AsianElephantDOTnet listing for Dublin zoo suggests that, in the NLI catalog range given (1930-1950), the only period where there was more than one elephant at the zoo was between 1932 and 1940. If this photo is dated to early/mid-1930s, then the elephants pictured could be "Dangiri Amma" (1929-1940) and "Chanchal Perry" (1932-1940). Or if the mid/late-1930s we could be looking at one of the above and a calf called Sara (1936-1962). (Also see showmelephantsDOTcom)
