English: A memorial commemorating the immortal memory of HIS HIGHNESS PRADHANPANT SHRIMANT MADHAVRAO BALLAL PESHWA.
Indian aristocrat and Peshwa of Mahratta India; born at Savanur (Karnataka) 1745 AD, died near Pune (Maharashtra) 1772 AD. In his very short tenure, and in spite of opposition, Madhavrao Peshwa contributed tremendously to the Maratha Kingdom. After the debacle of Panipat, he rekindled the Maratha spirit by his unwavering leadership. He resurrected a flagging economy and replenished the Kingdom's treasury through various expeditions. The memorial is located in the town of Pune, India. |
