English: The Italian Chapel The sides of the chapel show clearly that the building, for all its internal decoration, is in fact two wartime nissen huts bolted together. It is nevertheless a remarkable and unique place. One can only speculate as to the reaction of the Italian prisoners who built the chapel, used to a balmy Mediterranean climate, to finding themselves on Orkney. |
