| Description | The Polar Museum is a popular tourist attraction in Tromsø, located on the wooden Tollbodbrygga pier at Søndre Tollbodgate 11. This building was originally used as a customs house, from 1833 to 1970, but was then converted into a museum which opened up on 18 June 1978 - on the exact day 50 years after Roald Amundsen left Tromsø on his final mission with the flying boat "Latham" (Amundsen disappeared somewhere over the North Atlantic and his remains were never found). |
