English: Comments briefly on his diary entries of late.
Transcription: Found Holbrook there, as usual [Alfred] Waud came. Dined together at the Excelsior, returned to [290] Broadway — and here sit I, all alone, having hastily scribbled what I recollect of the past week. My diarizings are scant now, and its almost a bore when one gets in arrear. 13. Saturday. To [Cornelius] Mathews, drew a little there. To [James P.] Nagle’s book store, then Reveille. Got paid $2 1/2 To [Richard B.] Hutchings. To Dining Place, Post Office, Lantern Office, and Lockingtons. Thence crossed to Brooklyn called on Fagan’s at his new store, then not finding the block left yesterday at Dunsiers, walked on there. Stayed to dinner, and during the afternoon, then crossed to New York by the South Ferry, called at Nagle’s and in Fulton Street, then, after supping to my room.
