Description
English: Medal of Honor recipients (from left) Michael Thornton, USN; Thomas Norris, USN; Brian M. Thacker, USA; and Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Reserve Affairs H.C. "Barney" Barnum, Jr., USMC, attend a Medal of Honor flag presentation ceremony for Master-at-Arms 2nd Class (Seal) Michael A. Monsoor at the Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. Monsoor has been posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for diving onto a grenade to save his teammates in Ar Ramadi, Iraq on Sept. 29, 2006. Monsoor also received the Silver Star for his actions in May during the same deployment in 2006 when he exposed himself to heavy enemy fire to rescue and treat an injured teammate.
