Summary[edit]

Description

New Orleans Mardi Gras, 1930s. Group of 3 street costumers.

Original description: Three ladies in Broadway attire during Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Date: 1930s. Written on photograph: "Three Merry Masking Maids. With merry laughter these lassies typify the true spirit of Mardi Gras, when 100,000 adult New Orleanians and many more visitors become children again for a day, forgetting the world and its cares in wholesome play. The streets of New Orleans are over-run with all kinds of comic characters, some of them from the newspaper strips, others from mother goose...cutting all kinds of capers."
