Description
English: Water colour. Plantation building on the Coronie, on the sea coast of Suriname. This area was developed by the English and Scots with plantations from 1808, in the English period (1804-1816), Some of them stayed, other plantations were taken over by Dutch planters. It is unknown what plantation this is. We see some sheds and a sluice. Houses at the waterside in Coronie, probably plantation houses.
Français : Bâtiments d'une plantation dans le district de Coronie, au Suriname. On peut voir sur cette aquarelle des baraques et une vanne. Cette zone a été originellement colonisée par des anglais et des écossais durant la domination anglaise de la zone (1804-1816). Certains ont gardé leur plantation, d'autre sont partis et ont été remplacés par des planteurs hollandais.
Nederlands: Aquarel. Plantagegebouwen aan de Coronie, aan de zeekust van Suriname. Dit gebied werd door Engelsen en Schotten ingericht met plantages vanaf 1808, in de Engelse periode (1804-1816). Sommigen van hen bleven, andere plantages werden overgenomen door Nederlandse planters. Om welke plantage het hier gaat is onbekend. We zien enkele schuren en een sluis..
