Summary[edit]

Description
English: Ad for the American drama film Two Women (1919) with Anita Stewart, on page 24 of the April 13, 1919 Film Daily.
  • Note from the AFI Catalog of Feature Films:
This film was a re-edited version of a three reel film released 5 Jan 1915 which opened at the Vitagraph Theatre in New York on 2 Nov 1914. It was a Broadway Star Feature, released by General Film Co. through their feature department. The names of the characters differ from the 1919 version: in the 1915 release, Anita Stewart played "Anita, of the Woodland," Earle Williams played "John Emerson," Julia Swayne Gordon played "Cleo Emerson" and Harry Northrup played "Robert Lawler." The story also varies from that of the 1919 version: John, gone only part of a day, finds that his wife and his boss have been joyriding. After he divorces her, she marries the boss and they go to Europe. John then meets Anita in the mountains for the first time. At the end, John's first wife returns after the death of her husband and tracks John to his mountain cabin. Although he is blinded by her beauty at first, when Anita enters, he sends his divorced wife away and embraces Anita. The wife returns to the city. There is no train wreck. The three reel version was copyrighted by The Vitagraph Co. of America; 23 Nov 1914; LP3821.
