Description

Am 13.011945 bei der Hamburger Werft Blohm und Voss unter dem Namen U2540 vom Stapel gelaufen, gehörte zur 31. U-Flottillie und wurde im Mai 1945 in der Flensburgs Förde selbst versenkt. Im Januar 1957 wurde es wieder gehoben und instand gesetzt. Das Boot wurde 1. September 1960 von der Bundesmarine übernommen und auf den Namen Wilhelm Bauer getauft. Dort diente es als Erprobungsboot

Am 15.03.1982 wurde es dann endgültig ausser Dienst gestellt und vom Kuratorium Deutsches Schifffahrtsmuseum und dem Förderverein Deutsches Schifffahrtsmuseum übernommen
