English: The road through the village of Shir Ghazay (above) was in such terrible shape, the Marines of 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Forward) made it their mission to repair the road leading from the village to the town of Gurjat. All told, the Marines repaired four kilometers worth of road, and also improved or replaced several culverts, aiding local farmers in irrigating their fields. The road improvements will improve trafficability for both coalition forces as well as Shir Ghazay residents. |
