Description
English: Arabian Gulf (Apr. 18, 2003) - Airman Jay Maranan, of San Francisco, Calif., prepares to hook-up a hold-back brace before the launch of a S-3B Viking assigned to the ”Dragonfires” of Sea Control Squadron Two Nine (VS-29) from one of four steam driven catapults aboard the nuclear powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68). The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group (CSG) and embarked Carrier Air Wing One One (CVW-11) are currently deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), the multi-national coalition effort to liberate the Iraqi people, eliminate Iraqi’s weapons of mass destruction, and end the regime of Saddam Hussein.
