English: Arabian Gulf (July 31, 2004) - Aviation Structural Mechanic 2nd Class Kelvin Santos of Bronx, New York replaces rivets on the tail hook hydraulic system of an F/A-18B Hornet assigned to the "Sunliners" Strike Fighter Squadron Eight One (VFA-81) aboard the aircraft carrier USS John F Kennedy (CV 67). Kennedy and her embarked Carrier Air Wing Seventeen (CVW-17) are on deployment conducting missions in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Summer Pulse 2004. Summer Pulse is the deployment of seven carrier strike groups (CSGs), demonstrating the ability of the Navy to provide credible combat capability across the globe, in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces, under its new Fleet Response Plan (FRP).
