Description
English: South China Sea (Sept. 8, 2004) - Aviation Machinist's Mate 3rd Class Joshua Ray of Amherst, Va., assigned to the "Tomcatters" of Fighter Squadron Three One (VF-31), positions an engine skid supporting an F110-GE-400 turbofan jet engine across the flight deck aboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). The F110-GE-400 engine is used by F-14B and F-14D Tomcats and is capable of producing 27,000 lbs of thrust. Stennis and embarked Carrier Air Wing Fourteen (CVW-14) are currently participating in a scheduled deployment to the Western Pacific Ocean. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate 3rd Class Mark J.
