English: Gulf of Thailand (June 17, 2006) - Seaman Christopher Smith wears an Advanced Chemical Protective Garment (ACPG) before exiting the skin of the ship as part of an external investigation team during a Chemical, Biological and Radiological (CBR) general quarters (GQ) drill aboard amphibious dock landing ship USS Tortuga (LSD 46). Tortuga is enroute to Thailand for the 2nd phase of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT). CARAT is an annual series of bilateral maritime training exercises between the United States and six Southeast Asian nations designed to build relationships and enhance the operational readiness of the participating forces.
