Summary[edit]

Description
English: Vertical sundial declination lines for summer (red), winter (blue) solstices and equinoxes (magenta) at various latitudes (lat). The sundial faces due south in the Northern Hemisphere and due north in the Southern Hemisphere. g is for the base of the gnomon, h is for the gnomon style and the sundial face intersection point, e is for the eccentricity of solstice lines. Gnomon length was taken equal to one. For the winter solstice line we have only an arc of the conic section, its remaining part cannot be traced, as then the Sun is below the horizon. For hyperbolas (e>1) I've performed a verification using a formula from this book.
