Summary[edit]

Description
English: Victorian Fingerpost, Eastington. Erected to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897; junction Bath & Alkerton Roads. Two steps, tapering plinth with 3 eroded inscribed tablets & 1 shell-shaped drinking fountain, octagonal shaft, arms mounted in gabled niches, for detail see 1015934, surmounted by a crown. Apparently moved from road side when roundabout installed; when locals saw me photographing the post, they assumed it was to be moved again!
