Description
The painting is reminiscent of the benediction of the Lützow Volunteers in the Lutheran church in the village of Rogau on March 27, 1813. Among the figures portrayed are Adolf von Lützow (in the gray military coat), Friedrich Friesen, the cofounder of German gymnastics, fraternity brother, and educator (to the left of Lützow), Friedrich Ludwig Jahn, the "Father of Gymnastics" (to the right of Lützow), and Theodor Körner.
