Notes
  • Significance: Calliham's Mill is a valuable example of a working relationship between processes of the 19th and 20th centuries. It remains a physical document of methods which first produced the staple of a growing nation, and is one of the few remaining waterpowered grist mills still in use in South Carolina. The miller was an essential element in the economy of the 20th century rural South. Constructed of pine, this two-story structure was powered by a turbine which turns a driveshaft, powering the gears which rotate the mill stones. Calliham's Mill was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on November 22, 1987.
  • Survey number: HAER SC-15
  • Building/structure dates: 1898 Initial Construction
