• Blasonierung: In Blau ein rot gekrönter, -gezungter und -bewehrter zwiegeschwänzter goldener Löwe, unten begleitet von drei silbernen Mispelblüten.

Seit dem Neugliederungsgesetz vom 11.3.1969 ist die alte Stadt Geldern (ca. 1229/31) mit den Gemeinden Kapellen, Vernum, Pont, Veert und Walbeck vereint. Das 1909 vom preußischen König Wilhelm II. verliehene Wappen zeigt das ältere geldrische Emblem, die Mispelblüte oder geldrische Rose wie auch das jüngere herzogliche Wappentier, den geldrischen Löwen. Es geht auf Siegel des 16. Jahrhunderts zurück.
