Deutsch: Das Georgskreuz weist auf die jahrhundertelange Zugehörigkeit der Gemeinde zum Besitz der Kurfürsten aus Trier hin. Diese endete erst mit der Säkularisierung am Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts. Der Nachen mit den zwei Rudern steht im Bezug auf die Namensgebung unserer Gemeinde. Die frühesten, überlieferten Namensformen lauten Urvare, Oruar oder Urvar. Sie alle gehen auf ein mittelhochdeutsches Wort zurück, nämlich „Urvar“. Das Wort bezeichnet eine Stelle am Ufer, an der angelegt oder übergefahren werden kann. Hier konnte man also „überfahren“, was auch in der Übersetzung des lateinischen Wortes „overvare“ liegt. Ein Fährbetrieb vom Neuendorfer Ufer ist nachgewiesen und die alten Urbarer sagen heute noch liebevoll ORWER zu ihrem Ort.
