DescriptionWat Mai Suwannaphumaham 2009a.jpg |
English: An exterior view of the Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham temple in Luang Prabang, Laos. The Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham temple is the largest and most beautifully decorated of all the Buddhist temples in Luang Prabang and is renowned for its intricately carved designs, in black lacquer and gold leaf which depicts the penultimate reincarnation of Buddha. Located near the Royal Palace Museum, it was built at the turn of the 18th century and has been restored and extended since then. An emerald Buddha statue sits inside the red and gold interior. |
