meaning of categories[edit]

The meaning of "under surveillance" etc. is not at all clear. 134.91.141.112 09:55, 18 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Misleading legend[edit]

I agree with the above comment and I go further: the labels "under surveillance" and "heavy surveillance" are misleading. "Under surveillance", as used by the original source, means that the country is under surveillance by Reporters Without Borders. The term "heavy surveillance" is not found anywhere on the Reporters Without Borders website, and its use strongly and improperly suggests that, in the countries classified as "under surveillance", the internet users are the ones being surveilled. The "under surveillance" should probably be changed or clarified, but most importantly, "heavy surveillance" needs to be changed to something that does not imply any connection with "under surveillance". And most of the non-English versions of the legend also appear to need changing for the same reason. Ortsz (talk) 05:37, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

source?[edit]

Where is the Reporters Without Borders original source and definitions of the different levels of surveillance? As long as the terms used are not defined properly, I don't see much value in this world map.

Germany[edit]

I think Germany is no longer censoring since late 2011, since the Zugangserschwerungsgesetz was stopped. --Conspiration 22:18, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
