English: Forbidden City (紫禁城) is located at the centre of Beijing, China. It was the imperial palace of the last two imperial dynasties of China (from 1420 to 1924). It is surrounded by the Imperial Ancestral Temple (太庙), Altar of Land and Grain (社稷坛), the Tiananmen gatehouse (天安门) and Tiananmen Square, the Zhongnanhai, Beihai and other imperial gardens.
