Giants are large figures that represent the folk tradition of a particular city or community. They are made to dance in the streets on holidays and in processions with celebrations.

Belgium is the home-country of the giants. In Flanders there are more than 1700 giants. The largest, Jan Turpijn, lives in Nieuwpoort and is 10 meters tall and has a weight of 700 kg.
