العربية: إسطنبول هي أكبر مدن تركيا والعاصمة السابقة للدولة العثمانية. عرفت المدينة في العصور القديمة باسم "بيزنطة"، قبل أن يطلق عليها إسم القسطنطينية، ثم ومن "إسلامبول" و"الأستانة". بقي الغربيون يطلقون إسم "القسطنطينية" على المدينة حتى عام 1930، وكان بعضهم يسميها" ستامبول "منذ القرن التاسع عشر.
Česky: Istanbul je největší turecké město. Do roku 1930 ho západní svět znal po původním řeckým jménem Konstantinopol. V antice se město nazývalo Byzanc.

English: Istanbul (Turkish spelling: İstanbul. Etymologically, it derives from the Greek phrase "εἰς τὴν Πόλιν" [istinˈbolin] or in the Aegean dialect "εἰς τὰν Πόλιν" [istanˈbolin] (modern Greek "στην Πόλι" [stimˈboli]), which means "in the city", "to the city" or "downtown") is the biggest city in Turkey. Until 1930 this city was commonly known by its original Greek name Constantinople by westerners; some writings named it Stambul, especially in the 19th century. In Classical Antiquity it was known as Byzantium or Byzantion.
Magyar: Isztambul (török írásmóddal: İstanbul) a legnagyobb város Törökországban. Egészen 1930-ig a várost az eredeti görög (Κωνσταντινούπολη) nevén Konstantinápolynak nevezték nyugaton; néhány írásban mint Sztanbul hivatkoznak rá, főleg a XIX. században. Az antik korban nevezték még Bizáncnak is (Byzantium vagy Byzantion, Bυζαντιον).
한국어: 이스탄불 (터키어 표기: İstanbul)은 터키에서 가장 큰 도시이다. 1930년까지 이스탄불은 서방사람들에 의해 그리스어 이름인 콘스탄티노플(Constantinople)로 잘 알려졌다. 가끔 이 도시는 스탐불이란 이름으로도 쓰여지기도 했다(특히 19세기에 스탐불이란 이름이 쓰여졌다).

Czasami zapisywano nazwę tego miasta jako Stambul, co przyjęło się także w polszczyźnie. W okresie antycznym miasto było znane jako Bizancjum.
Slovenščina: Istanbul (turško črkovanje: İstanbul) je največje turško mesto. Do leta 1930 ga je zahodni svet poznal pod izvornim grškim imenom Konstantinopel, včasih zapisano tudi kot Stambul. V antiki so ga imenovali Bizanc (Byzantium ali Byzantion).

The Sea of Marmara and the Princes' Islands are seen in the background, on the horizon. At the extreme left of the picture, the district of Kadıköy (ancient Chalcedon) on the Asian side of the city can be seen. Behind the Galata Bridge, towards the horizon, the Column of Constantine (which was surrounded by iron bars for restoration at the time of this photo) rises.
