English: A labyrinth is, per modern scholars[whom?], a unicursal maze-like object, that is, one having a single path to the centre. By contrast, a "maze" has a number of dead ends or alternative routes that may be taken. The historical "turf mazes" of England are, by this modern definition, actually labyrinths.
