It was held on 9 April 2011 at the Kent Showground in Detling, Kent, alongside the second staging of the annual Heritage Transport Show, set up as an addition to the vintage vehicle entrants to the annual Kent County Show held in July. It was organised by the North Kent Vehicle Preservation Group, The M&D and East Kent Bus Club, the Maidstone & District Preservation Group and Kent Showground, with support from Arriva, who hosted an event website (archive copy, PDF version, archive copy), a promotional poster (archive copy) and an entrant list (archive copy).
The aim of the event was to display "the largest gathering of former M&Dvehicles ever", featuring both fully preserved buses, as well as buses awaiting preservation, and those still operating with Arriva and other companies. This included the oldest known example, a 1912 Hallford LA (reg. D 8650), and one of the last buses delivered new to M&D, No. 5929, a 1997 Volvo Olympian Northern Counties (reg. P929 MKL). Prior to the event, 5929 was painted in a centenary version of M&D's last livery, unveiled on 21 March 2011. . Other preserved and in service buses also attended.
