Nigao-e

Nigao-e(似顔絵；にがおえ）is a kind of portrait, a drawing or a printed article which illustrates some person's face very likely. In Japanese "nigao" means a likeliness to a person's face; "e"　（絵） means a drawing.

Many kinds of Nigao-e were made by Ukiyo-e artists, such as actors or beautiful women. In later periods drawings which are not Ukiyo-e also became to be called "Nigao-e" in Japan.
