English: Pirna is a town in Saxony, Germany. The town is situated on the river Elbe, about 20 km southeast of Dresden. It was founded as a trading place probably in the 11. century. Today Pirna is supra-regional known as “the gate to the Saxon Switzerland".

Deutsch: Die Stadt Pirna befindet sich in Sachsen, etwa 20 km südwestlich von Dresden. Sie wurde wahrscheinlich schon im 11. Jahrhundert als ein Handelsplatz gegründet. Heute ist die an der Elbe gelegene Stadt als „Tor zur Sächsischen Schweiz“ überregional bekannt.
