Sachsen
From Wikimedia Commons, the free media repository
However Saxony is also the name of the historic homeland of the Saxon people far to the north-west of the current state, abutting Jutland and bordering the Rhine River in Old Saxony--homeland of the Saxons. Under the history after Charlemange the laws of inheritance gradually moved the place name easterly. Eventually, the name became associated with the province of Saxony and in a last south-eastward move, the Kingdom and current Freestate--which overlap in their borders.
Hornjoserbsce: Saksa je zwjazkowy kraj w Němskej. Hłowne město je Drježdźany.
Plattdüütsch: De Freestaat Sassen is en düütsch Bundsland.
Seeltersk: Saksen is n Buundeslound in Düütsklound.
