Deutsch: Als Holocaust, auch Holokaust [ˈhoːlokaʊ̯st, holoˈkaʊ̯st] (von griechisch ὁλοκαύτωμα, holokáutoma: „vollständig Verbranntes“, d.h. „Brandopfer“) bezeichnet man heute im deutschen Sprachraum vor allem den Völkermord an etwa sechs Millionen Juden in der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus, der auch Shoa genannt wird.

English: The Holocaust (from the Greek holókauston from holos "completely" and kaustos "burnt"), also known as Ha-Shoah (Hebrew: השואה), Churben (Yiddish: חורבן), is the term generally used to describe the killing of approximately six million European Jews during World War II, as part of a program of deliberate extermination planned and executed by the National Socialist German Workers Party in Germany led by Adolf Hitler.
