My maiden name is Catherine A. Adda, born 1933. Father, born, 1905, and lived most of his life in NYC, was raised by his father who was born in an orphanage somewhere in Italy. Does anyone know of an orphanage that existed in the area in the late 19th century? Grandfather's birth mother, as was related to me by a great aunt in 1957, came from some family of means. Her husband's name was Tuttorigi? As the story goes, her husband agreed to forgive her if she placed the child up for adoption. Is there anyone out there who can shed light on this story?
