Talk:Johann Gottfried Herder

I have understood this page to NOT be the information page for Wikipedia but a page to possibly discuss with others what I have in mind about Herder. I came upon Herder during extra reading for my 2nd year phil. course at Kent Uni. I was researching alternative thoughts regarding Natural Law as considered by Hobbes and Rousseau. I studied Phil. at Pavia university for 2 years and had some courses with Silvana Borutti. In her book Filosofia delle Scienze Umane (phil of human sciences)she mentioned Herder as considering human products as the way of understanding humans and society. I found this consideration to be an alternative to the stifling methodological approach of studying humans during our efforts to understand morality, rights and the conflicts that we constantly find ourselves in. At first glance, with Volk nationality attributed to him, Herder seems not to be very politically PC. My consideration is that his thoughts have been undermined by those who followed him, much in the same manner that Nietzsche's concepts were handled by the Nazi regime. I have yet to investigate further but as a woman in the field of philosophy I have to explore sources that are not so well known to uncover some concepts that will give more satisfaction than the sky hook angry beastly man in natural state theories propose. I also balk against the idea that what man produces not be natural. We have produced through our nature language, art, protection and society. Another Fine present day philosopher is u. Galimberti.
