Syntax fixed and updated to the new one as of 2009. –Krinkletalk 14:33, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The problem here is that not all projects call users "User" - e.g. in de: it is "Benutzer". Really there needs to be another entry that records what the project's term for "User" is. --TheGrappler 11:51, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Worng - "User:" works in all projects, as does "Image:", etc - the "canonical" english namespaces names are always available as "magic redirects". Try de:User:Duesentrieb, for instance. -- Duesentrieb(?!) 12:27, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Link to 'Main Page'[edit]

Why is the link to the project always referring to 'Main Page'. Just [[:nl:|Wikipedia]] (Wikipedia) should work to and always point to the real main page (Hoofdpagina on nlwiki). WebBoy 20:08, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Upgrade[edit]

Hello! I made an upgrade for this template. It will check first if the input equals any other {{PD-user-*}} (such as {{PD-user-ar}}, {{PD-user-en}}, and {{PD-user-de}}) if so, it will redirects to original tempalte. That's meaning {{PD-user-w|en|wikipedia|OsamaK}} will redirects to {{PD-user-en|OsamaK}} (Which has a special text on English Wikipedia). Other wise, (For wikis which has no special tempate), it will works as it was before.--OsamaK 15:20, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't seem to have worked. Please see Commons_talk:Licensing#.7B.7Btl.7CPD-user-en.7D.7D. Do keep in mind that this template is in very high use. Modifying this template takes a toll on the server load and affects legal information on thousands (probably hundreds of thousands) of images. Please make a set of dummy templates (e.g. in your user namespace) and test thoroughly before making changes. LX (talk, contribs) 23:45, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, no problem.--OsamaK 04:20, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kaput[edit]

It seems that somebody made a mistake when modifying this template. The language link for traditional Chinese is broken and the characters meaning "Chinese (traditional)" and the link to add new translations is displayed opposite to the logo. It seems to affect all versions of the template. --Kazu89 ノート 22:20, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Parameter #3 to user[edit]

{{Editprotected}} I suggest to use 'user' parameter instead of #3, since parameters #1 and #2 is now deprecated. {{{3|Example}}}{{{3|{{{user|Example}}}}}}. Please do not remove parameter #3, since #3 is in use. Thank you. Kwj2772 (msg) 09:28, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done. --The Evil IP address (talk) 15:49, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Broken[edit]

When you click the other language buttons at the bottom, the name of the original author is lost and the project of the original upload changes to Wikimedia commons. Internoob (talk) 21:27, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Correction of doc and suggestion for the template[edit]

There was a typo in the TemplateBox fields that mixed different parameters. I think I corrected that and at the same time made some changes.

Two things that are missing for now: 1) The real name has to be given as "4=NN", which is not obvious. I suggest adding a parameter "realname". 2) The project name is given in English unless the deprecated 2= is used. It should be given either in the language suggested in the language code or translated together with the rest of the template.

The first change should be easy. For the second one probably needs some deeper knowledge of the templates and auto translation system.

--LPfi (talk) 07:37, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The documentation was actually a bit out of date, the project name isn't passed at all now anymore (when using the new syntax). Only the projectcode (ie. 'w', 'wikt', 'wikisource', 'wikibooks' etc.), language code ('en', 'de' etc.) and username. Other templates ({{Language}} and {{Projectname}}) take care of the wording of the projects and translation of languages (ie. "English Wikipedia" for w | en for English users and "英語 ウィキペディア" for w | en for Japanese users).
The "realname" parameter was already suggested here and there but implementation was still partial and unfinished. ✓ Done now. –Krinkletalk 14:50, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for fixing it and for the answer. --LPfi (talk) 18:26, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Links don't work[edit]

Links are broken with the current version of the template: e.g. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/de:User:Quux and https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/de:. Please fix them.--Carnby (talk) 21:07, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
