The Little Mermaid is a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen.
A statue of The Little Mermaid (lille havfrue') is placed at Langelinie in the Copenhagen harbour. She stands only 1,25 Meter and was sculptured by Copenhagen artist Edvard Eriksen (* 1876; † 1959). He took the face of famous Ballerina Ellen Price and the body of his wife.
Warning: The Little Mermaid is considered a copyrighted work of art by Edvard Eriksen (died 1959) according to Danish law. Thus the copyright for this work of art expires on 1 January 2030.
Images of the statue may be considered derivative works. Successors of the sculptor are known to file claims against any derived work used commercially as explained in this article. Under Danish law, freedom of panorama does not extend to works of art that are located in public places if such a work constitutes the central element of the resulting picture.
