Maedin Tureaud is my general internet alias, and I use this name on Wikimedia; also on Flickr and Blogger. You can pronounce it just like "maiden" or as French, "Maydeen". My real name is Julie.

I live in the UK, but I'm not British by birth. I'm 24 and female. I work in civil engineering.

...is actually rubbish. I have a pretty good eye for technical quality, but am mostly unable to achieve this in my own photographs. I do enjoy the featured and QI process though, so I generally stick to nominating the work of others that I really enjoy.

I've been looking things up on Wikipedia for several years, and I'm disappointed that I didn't think to click the edit button much sooner. I like to vary my activities here and am interested in gaining breadth of experience, so I'll probably dip into a lot of areas and projects until I find my niche. In any case, I'm here to do good and to always be constructive.

I love literature and am an avid reader, sticking mostly to classics, "becoming" classics, and children's books, though I do read some modern literature. I wish I had more money for foreign travel. I have played the piano for many years, but unfortunately, I'm still rubbish. I enjoy listening to music of many genres, from many decades, but I could never do justice to a list of my favourite artists, so I won't even try. I'm also into computers (built mine), dramatics, cats, tennis, table tennis, languages, photography, hiking, cycling, needlework, board games, card games, and Command & Conquer.
